Let's Make it Easy!
1.) Call me for your free consultation.
Therapy is all about fit. And the therapeutic relationship is much too valuable to leave it up to chance! So finding the right therapist can be the difference between affecting necessary changes in your life and just spending your time and money. I encourage you to choose someone with whom you feel a connection – someone who hears you…
2.) What about insurance benefits?
I am in network with BCBS. However, in order to know if your specific policy puts you in-network with me, I will need more information. So please do take the time to reach out to me. (Text or call is the most efficient.)
If I can’t see you on your insurance, I’m happy to help problem solve and get the help that you need! This may include out-of-network billing, providing you with super bills, cash-pay or a referral to a trusted colleague who is in-network and can accept your insurance.
*Note: There are multiple PPO plans for many insurance companies. Some of them require us to be paneled specifically with those programs. This is both confusing and frustrating for most clients. I can help!
I also offer out-of-network support for insurance reimbursement, pre-tax savings credit cards (an employer benefit), Debit Cards, Visa, Master, Discover, AMEX, personal checks and cash.
3.) Schedule your initial appointment.
I can meet with most clients within a week of our consultation; many within a few days. Following your free consultation, if we are a good fit to work together, I will send paperwork for signature and get you on the schedule!
Easy: Talk – Paperwork – Appointment
If you are in a life-threatening crisis, please dial 9-1-1 or visit your local emergency room immediately! Crisis waits for no one – get the help that you need now!

Therapy FAQs
If you need to pay out-of-pocket for therapy, my fees are as follows:
Individual Therapy/60 Minutes: $180
Couples Therapy/60 Minutes: $200
Note: Most couples need 75-90 minutes per session to process and benefit from our work.
I prefer cash and personal checks (which are same-day mobile banked. Any returned check fees are your responsibility).
I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and AMEX – both credit and debit cards. Plus HSA/pretax savings credit cards, personal checks and cash (with overages credited to your account and deducted off your next session).
That depends upon the issues that you bring to counseling. Some things inherently just take longer. We can discuss your specific treatment plan and process when we speak for the first time.
Research shows that therapy is most effective when done weekly. There are exceptions, but we would need to discuss this before we start our work together.
I do bill for Late Cancellations and No-Shows. I cannot bill them to your insurance. But I work really hard at avoid charging you!
- I send you a text and/or email reminders the day before our session.
- You have up until midnight the night before your session to cancel/reschedule at no cost.
- You can reach me via text, call, voicemail or email.
Unfortunately, I no longer do therapy on the weekend. My regular office hours are by appointment only Monday thru Friday:

Absolutely! Just contact me directly at 224-406-1474 or email me at deb@debnorton.com for a free 15-minute phone consultation.
I don’t have one hard and fast rule on this. However, our therapeutic relationship is the foundation of our work. So I’m cautious about bringing another person into that.
The good news is that I have several talented and experienced colleagues in the local area, and I’m more than happy to refer your family member to one of them, if the need arises.
Willing yes, but it will require your written permission. There are rules regarding your confidentiality, and I will go over them with you during our first session.
This process is all about you! So if you don’t feel that I’m the right therapist for you, I will happily help you try to find a better fit.
My profession requires that I only work within the boundaries of my training and experience. So it’s important for you to tell me up front what your concerns are that bring you to therapy. If you need help outside my areas of expertise, I will refer you to someone with the appropriate training and skills.
